Today, I got a portable dishwasher for free. It's a full-size Whirlpool on casters. But the racks were rusty and the door's been repaired with duct tape.
I have a perfectly good Kenmore non-portable dishwasher that I got for free just sitting there...
Hey, the bottom rack fits!
Hmm, the top one fits, but doesn't work with the sprayer for the other one.
The inner door panels swap. That's interesting...
Now both of them are sitting apart and the roommate and I are trying to figure out if we can swap the entire door assembly from the Kenmore onto the Whirlpool.
Neither of the dishwasher forums I found (automaticwasher.org and applianceblog.com) are much help for doing fully sikk custom machines brah.
Yep, it's a thrill a minute at the Tohru household.
EDIT: The roommate stepped on a screw from one of the agitators and poked a hole in his foot. Lacking proper supplies, we cleaned it with half a shotglass worth of Tito's Vodka and bandaged it up.

There's a fine line between "modding", repairing and Frankenstein.
As luck would have it, Kenmore has never actually built an appliance. Whirlpool may have actually made the Kenmore to a spec.

I thought so too. The timers are made by the same company, the wire routing is the same.
Appliance Blogs put them in different categories though.

Hell yeah bro. It's getting the Pots and Pans with water heat flash. Found it on the forums.

The Kenmore has a rear drive sprayer already, actually. It won't fit the tub of the Whirlpool.
Fixed the automatic soap dispenser.
No camber, bro.

I'm not saying it will work, it might though. I know Maytag and Hotpoint will swap. Sears and Kenmore are more complex.

After a little research whirlpool owns maytag. I thought sears owned kenmore and whirlpool but I guess not. Also with the purchase of maytag whirlpool is now the largest home appliance maker in the world surpassing electrolux
I now know more than I ever wanted to about appliances

Also after more research turns out whirlpool did make some products for kenmore depending on the seriserial number

As a medical non professional, I see nothing wrong with this.

If they are close enough [kenmore/whirlpool is kinda Vw/Audi of appliances] the door hinges should be able to swap over...but redrilling holes can be risky because leaks.
